Who gets Rolfed?
Athletes, dancers, business people, musicians, children, people suffering from chronic stress or pain, patients referred by their chiropractors, physicians, or psychotherapists, and just "regular" people sensing that they could feel better - all come to Rolfing.
Why Rolfing?
Everyone has some degree of disorder and compensation in their bodies. A series of Rolfing sessions could be a potential benefit to just about anyone.
How is Rolfing different from massage?
Massage as it is commonly practiced is for relaxation, circulation, and pain relief.
Rolfers will look for the areas of imbalance causing the discomfort or pain. Most of the time, these areas are not "where it hurts". Through soft tissue manipulation and movement education Rolfers improve body alignment in the gravitational field and refine patterns of movement in order to make lasting structural changes.
Do You Rolf Children?
Children of all ages are especially fun to work with because the subtle alignments in a child posture through Rolfing can create many positive changes in a child's self image and movement patterns that will stay with them as they mature. Children also love it! Fewer, shorter, and gentle sessions are needed because they are so responsive. The 10 session series is usually reserved until they are around 14 years old, or when it seems appropriate. Parents bring children to Rolfing for things like scoliosis, poor posture, growing pains, pigeon-toes, pronation & supination of the feet, neck & back tension ( yes, they have it!)
What do I wear during a Rolfing session?
Most people wear their regular underwear or shorts and sports bra are also fine.
How often should I receive Rolfing sessions?
Every one or two weeks would be ideal, but we can talk about your specific situation.
How much is each session?
$135 for each session. Payments may be made by cash or check or Visa.
How long are your Rolfing sessions?
Usually an hour and a half.
What is involved in a Rolfing session?
Sessions consist of evaluating the client's structure, hands on physical work, & movement re-education. Each session builds upon the previous session, so that the results are cumulative.
